2010 METRO OPEN WATER CHAMPIONSHIP
A small but strong TWISTERS squad (90% girls) took the challenge to race in Huntington Bay against a crowded company of about 150 swimmers from Metro, New England and Australia. After a great morning of races ranging from 1000 yards for 10 and under to 5K for Open our swimmers proved to be brave enough to conquer the waves, cold water and competitions throughout the age groups: 10-undre girls: Kayla Polanco (9) finished 3rd followed closely by Nicole Falcao (10); in 11-12 girls Samantha Wu (12) and Anna Lee (12) raced each other for the 5th and 6th place; in 11-12 boys Kevin Wu (12) a rookie won first place with John Criollo (11) in 7th; in 13-14 girls Brigitti Cruz (14) finished in an honorable 5th and finally in the girls Open 5K Yuria Haruki (16) finished 2nd, Agata Michalak (16) third and Joyce Kwok (15) 5th followed by our new coach Zuzanna Michalak (?) touching in the upper half. 2010 REDTAILS INTERNATIONAL
For the 6th consecutive year the TWISTERS brought home the overall trophy from the Redtails International meet (June 19-20 in Lehman college, Bronx). It was a strong team effort with a near perfect relays sweep and with all age groups scoring strong. And to keep with the tradition we had many swimmers in the high point rankings: Kayla Polanco (9), first, Victoria Miszkowski (10) second, Andy Lee (8) second, Anna Lee (12) second, Kevin Wu (12) first with the only perfect score of the meet: 160 (8 x 8), Alexandra Rubiano (14) first, Brigitti Cruz (14) second, Richard Dong (14) second, Joyce Kwok (15) first, Yuria Haruki (16) second, Sarah Bouzarouata (16) third for a 15-over girls sweep), Benjamin Ching (15) first and Phoon Sangtippawan (17) third.

29TH Dr. M.L.King meet
2010 started with a bang for the TWISTERS in the Dr. M.L. King meet in Long Island. By bringing down the Metropolitan record in 800 free 13-14 boys relay with Mike Domagala (14), Brandon Koo (13), Benjamin Ching (14) and Alen Dervisevic (14) in 7:26.48, the TWISTERS currently own 16 LSC relay records, more than any other team in Metro. And with Mike's brand new 52.00 in 100 fly which lowered the 13-14 boys Metro record in the event our team is mention in the Metro record books no less than 49 times. We also had 15 more team records and High Point Trophy winners in 8 - under girls: Luiza Silveira (8), 8 - u boys: Andy Lee (8); 11-12 girls Gaby Almeida (11), 11-12 boys Matt Zezula (12), 13-14 boys: Mike Domagala (14), and 15-18 girls: Joyce Kwok (15). DIPLOMAT TYR CUP
The meet was as strong as ever regardless of the name change from Trident to Diplomat. And the twisters delivered, repeating last year performance by placing third out of more than 40 teams in combined standings, with the boys in second place overall. We had good shows throughout most of the age groups with the strongest by the 11-12 and 13-14 boys. Individually in High Point Trophy Michael Domagala (13) finished first with wins in 100 fly, 100 back, 200 IM and 200 Fly, Mateusz Zezula (12) second and Benjamin Ching (14) winning the 100 breast, and Arthur Uszynski (12) third in their Age Groups. Beside Mike coming out of this meet with 6 team records and Andy Lee (8) who continues his domination on the 8-under category I have to mention Joyce Kwok (15) with 5 new team records and her first Junior national cut in 100 fly and the relays of 11-12 boys Matt, Arthur, Kevin Wu (11) and Andrew Guo (12) winning the 200 and 400 free, with second in 200 medley, and the 13-14 boys of Mike, Ben, Alen Dervisevic (14) and Richard Dong (13) winning both 400 Medley, only 4 hundreds from the Metro record and 400 free. BIG APPLE CLASSIC
For the second consecutive year our team pulled together for a overall win in the Big Apple Classic competition in Flushing YMCA. This performance came also with multiple individual age group winners, 16 new team records, one Metro Record and several new Sectional qualifying swims which makes it for a total 9 individual qualifiers so far this season; many great personal best times and many great races made up for a good long weekend of swimming. After a year of restructure and rebuilding the Senior squad represented the team with honor at this year New York City Open in Asphalt Green pool. CHAPPY'S big race
With some older swimmers in preparation for the NYC Open, the TWISTERS took down 2 more team records and had some very solid personal best times at this year Chappy's Big Race in Eisenhower park. Andy Lee (8) continue to change the team record book, this time lowering one of the oldest in 100 backstroke boys 8 and under. In the same event Mike Domagala (13) continue to prove his versatility with a time that place him among the best in USA. THE TWISTERS BREAK 10 TEAM RECORDS ON THE FIRST MEET OF THE SEASON
Swimming in the first meet of the season our TWISTERS had some outstanding races at the 2009 Flushing YMCA Junior Championship. The team won 21 first, 25 second and 17 third place in individual races and 6 first with 3 second and one third in relays.
