SOLID SHOW WITH INCOMPLETE TEAM IN LANCASTER PA (12/15/2005)

After a long time the Twisters got to travel to a December meet to the cold and snowy Lancaster, Pennsylvania for the 10th Annual TYR Cup. With only 23 swimmers and four relays the Twisters exceeded expectations placing high among the 42 participating teams. It was a great opportunity to show our skill and speed as a club outside Metro, and for our kids a good confidence booster and an occasion to enjoy new friendships, challenges, and to dine out with families and teammates. Alen Dervisevic (10) won HPT for boys 10 and under with wins in 50, 100, 200 free and 100 IM, second in 50 and 100 fly, 50 breast and 100 fly, and third in 50 fly; Cagla Fidan (10)  placed second in 10 and under girls with a win in 100 fly, second in 50 and 100 back, 50 fly and 100 IM, third in 100 and 200 free and a pair of fifth in 50 breast and 50 free; Annie Zhu (11) scored for third place with only 7 swims in her age group, winning the 50 breast, second in 50 free, 100 back and 100 and 200 IM, and 5th in 50 fly and 50 back. Without fear, she swum her baby 100 breast race in Open category for which she qualified second for finales with 1:06.92, and in the evening sprinted to a forth place with a new 11-12 girls Metro record of 1:06.18. It was a very good meet for Alexandra Rubiano (9) who was the only nine year old girl to make finals, scoring in 200 IM (6th), 100 breast and 100 back (8th).
